The Pilot is a
monolith of Olympic magnitude and grandeur. It stands in the midst of the
Burnett property. For thousands of years, the Pilot has majestically
towered skyward, functioning as a sentinel for the surrounding terrain.
Under the auspicious presence of the Pilot, the Little South Fork of the
Cumberland River spanned by an authentic swinging bridge, meanders around
and through the Burnett property. The Pilot and the River are the
first two in a multitude of incredible components that comprise and define
the Burnett land.
The Pilot is a big rock -- a landform owing its existence to erosion over
a long period of time. Because it is made up of harder material, the
Pilot has endured while the softer material bordering it has blown or
washed away. The Pilot differs from most landforms of this nature
because it is honeycombed with numerous caverns. The ascent to its
top culminates in panoramic views, refreshing winds, and a sense of
accomplishment.
